'''आन्ध्रप्रदेश:''' दक्षिणभारतस्य कश्चन प्रान्त: अस्ति । पूर्वम् आन्ध्रप्रदेशः तमिलनाडुप्रदेश्च मिलित्वा आवर्तेताम् । ततः १९५६ तमे वत्सरे नवम्बर्-मासस्य प्रथमदिनाङ्के स्वतन्त्रप्रतिपत्तिं प्राप्य आन्ध्रप्रदेशः इति जातः । आन्ध्रप्रदेशे त्रयोविंशतिः मण्डलानि सन्ति । अत्र अधिकसंख्याकैः 'तेलुगु'भाषा उपयुज्यते । [[हैदराबाद्|हैदराबाद्नगरम्]] आन्ध्रप्रदेशस्य राजधानी । राजधान्यां दर्शनीयानि स्थलानि बहूनि सन्ति । तेषु बिर्लामन्दिरं, सालार्जङ्ग्सङ्ग्रहालयः, चार्मिनार्भवनम् इत्यादयः प्रमुखाः । आन्ध्रप्रदेशस्य अन्यत् प्रसिद्धं नगरम् अस्ति विशाखपट्टणम् । अत्रत्यं समुद्रतीरम् अतीव रमणीयम् अस्ति । अत्र विद्यमानाः नौकानिर्माणागारं, तैलशुद्धिकर्मागारम् अयसः कर्मागारं च प्रसिद्धानि सन्ति ।
आन्ध्रप्रदेशे [[गोदावरीनदी|गोदावरी]], [[कृष्णा]], [[तुड्गभद्रा]], [[पिनाकिनी]], [[नागावली]], [[वंशधारा]] प्रभृतयः प्रसिद्धाः नद्यः प्रवहन्ति । 'नन्दिकोण्डा' इत्येतस्य स्थलस्य समीपे 'नागार्जुनसागरः' निर्मितः । एतेषां कारणतः आन्ध्रप्रदेशः समृद्धः जातः अस्ति । गोदावरीमण्डलं 'भारतदेशस्य धान्यागारम्' इति प्रसिद्धं जातमस्ति ।
