In Sanskrit, (like Hindi), the use of short 'e' and 'o' vowels are very rare, where as long 'e' and 'o' are much more frequent. However, the ULS tool in Wikipedia has mapped the short 'e' and 'o' to 'vyanjana'+ short 'e' and 'vyanjana'+ short 'o' (like in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada etc.). In order to type in the long sounds, one will need to type 'vowel'+SHIFT+e or 'vowel'+SHIFT+'o'.

 

e - ए, E - ऎ, o - ओ, O - ऒ, ke - के, kE - कॆ, ko - को, kO - कॊ
