First of all let me make it clear (and plz take it positively) that this type of key-map is not what is relevant for this tool. The tool uses contextual information, and its map is like-<br>
क्+h=ख्<br>
Nill+h=ह<br>
etc. But still I appreciate Nehal's efforts, in quickly producing what was demanded.<br>
Coming to the point, I see following keys are not useful- q w f z x c
Here too, w may be left out for व् though there is v also, but new users will always be tempted to use either of the two. f may be kept for फ् for similar reason.
Now q, z, x, and c are really available for other Devanagari letters. x may remain for क्ष. Now, q, z and c : <br>
I see that there is not an easier way to type ट, ड of course they are typed with t+shift, d+shift; but the frequency of these two in the language is far more to match this. Even in INSCRIPT, these two are typed without shift, and mind it INSCRIPT is designed keeping in mind of the relative frequency of letters in the language. So my proposal is to use q and pipe sign ( | ) for ट and ड respectively along with +h for ठ and ढ respectively. And the older key combination available may be kept there also i.e. T=ट, D=ड, since this is also intuitive, and those who are habitual of this may not feel friction in transition.<br>
Your a+i=ऐ and a+u=औ are ok. But E=ऐ and O=औ was also a candidate, but I am not so insistent for them, because finally ऍ and ऑ also have to be adjusted. Though I don't know if those are frequently used on Sanskrit wiki.<br>
Coming to संयुक्त वर्ण case, all other proposed mappings are acceptable to me except for '*', which should be kept intact. Because this is going to interrupt your flow heavily. Typing bullet should not cost a "control+m and then shift+8", or "clicking by mouse leaving the keyboard". श्र can come with @ (which I think is not so much used in wiki-syntax, but if used please inform.)<br>
Some users may not understand now, but while using they will feel it. Even this e ऎ o ऒ case was not complained by our users; at that time I took initiative to replace them with more frequent characters ए and ओ (using a script), which then was felt by us as a speed-booster.<br>
