English: Gowri Habba The main Gowri idol used in the Swarna (Suvarna, or Golden) Gowri Vratha is made of turmeric, and the shape represents a mountain. This is made by hand and consecrated as per protocol in the initial stage of the Vratha, before offerings are made in worship. In front of the turmeric Gowri a Golden Gowri made of metal is visible. This is often substituted by a clay Gowri, vividly coloured, sold along with clay idols of Ganesha. The picture representing Gowri or Devi is for decorative purpose. Mango leaves or Banana leaves are used to decorate the worship space. As per protocol, footwear must be removed outside the door before entering a room where this type of worship is in progress. By the end of the Swarna Gowri Vratha, the turmeric Gowri is covered by flowers and barely visible.
