In case you didn't know, "Althistory" means "Alternative History" i.e. "fictional history". Althistory.wikia.com is a wiki site devoted to imagined scenarios of what would happen if certain scenarios had played out differently in history.

This is a map of India in 1600 CE, imagining that "the Chauhans [...] played an important role in the 1392 coup d'état that deposed the Borjigin dynasty and ended the Mongol period in India."

In reality, the Chauhans were defeated in 12th century, and did not rule India in 1600 CE -- the Mughals did. The Chauhan kingdom never expanded beyond the present-day Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi.

Here are some other maps from the same site:

• "Kasi Empire" in 1800, imagining that that the Kasi Bactrian clan ruled almost entire India by 1800
• India in 1983, imagining that Kashmir went to Pakistan, and some of the states seceded.
• India and Deccan, imagining that south India seceded from India
• and many others

@Utcursch: 1 2 3 You are the admin of en.wiki these files and categories are used in en.wiki. First remove that and after we can remove from sa.wiki. We knew that this is alternative history, so we wrote a clarification sentence in article. That sentence is this is the map which shows fictional map of Chauhan Empire. So reader can understand purpose of image use. If you want to start a community discussion on this topic, so please write on village pump. But please do not remove that image without any reason. Which reason you are showing it may be your opinion, but you should remove this image as per community concern. Again I am telling you, please do not remove image without community concern. @NehalDaveND: None of the images that you've linked to are used in articles on actual historical topics. [१] is used in the article on a novel, [२] is used in an article on a video game, same with the images in this category.

On the other hand, this article is on an actual historical topic. This fictional map serves no purpose at all than misleading the reader. What's really absurd is that the map shows India in 1600 CE, while the Chauhan dynasty had ended by 1200 CE.

I just came across this image while performing categorization work on Commons, and saw that it had been wrongly used here. I removed it in good faith, assuming that the person who had uploaded this map did not realize that it was a fictional map.

I've little interest in editing Sanskrit Wikipedia -- so I won't waste my time here. Think about it -- when a person with decent knowledge of Indian history comes across this article, the first thing s/he notices is this image. S/he immediately loses faith in credibility of the rest of the article, and possibly Sanskrit Wikipedia. Utcursch (चर्चा) १०:५५, २० जून २०१६ (UTC)
